AND B&Bs AROUND PIAZZA DEL POPOLO: The list below
reports the APARTMENTS and B&Bs selected by us around
Piazza del Popolo, one of the most fascinating palce of
Rome: according to legend, the ashes of Nero were enshrined
here until 11th-century residents began complaining to the
pope about his imperial ghost. The Egyptian obelisk sourmounting
the central fountain dates back to the 13th century B.C.,
brought from Heliopolis to Rome during Augustus's reign
and once placed at Circus Maximus. The piazza was completly
re-drawn in the early 19th century by Valadier, Napoleon's
architect. Santa Maria del Popolo church, hosting two Caravaggios,
is surely worthy of a visit as well as the opposite and
almost twin baroque churches |
